We Aren’t Impressed!

If you call yourself a Social Media Guru, Master or Expert, you should be aware:

Many of us realize that the very fact that you would bestow such a title on yourself is a strong indication that it ain’t true!

And few things turn people off faster than hearin’ someone toot their own horn.

The fact of the matter is, we just aren’t nearly as impressed with you as you seem to be.

Maybe you missed the fact that social media is about being sociable… that pretty much rules out rude, crude or obnoxious. And telling the world how wonderful you are is more than a little obnoxious.

Try being real! You may be surprised at how much further it’ll get you.

    I recently attended a social media virtual conference and one of the presenters described himself as a “social media sensei.” Of course, he’s also the only one douche-y enough to pre-record his lecture and have the organizers just hit play instead of actually “showing up”, presenting “live” and engaging in a stimulating intellectual to-and-fro with attendees. Disappointing all around!

    Myself, I am a fan of the classics. I refer to myself as a “stand-up philosopher” (with apologies to Mr. Brooks!)
